Momentum is building!
With 25 days to go before the publication of my novel The Legend of Pedestrio and the beginning of my cross-country walking tour, word is beginning to spread. You can help by inviting friends to follow this page. The success of both ventures (the book & the tour) will depend on word of mouth – so my thanks to all of you for being here with me at the very beginning! As I’ve said before, the Legend of Pedestrio is a story with legs – but finding the right audience will be a challenge. If you know anybody who enjoys a good yarn or a spot of vicarious adventure, please give them a nudge.
I am writing this while on a training hike using voice-to-text software. Time is becoming more precious the closer we get to launch date. A lot of newfangled technology has come down the pike since my last long-distance hike. Might as well take advantage of it
The fact that I’m back out on the road is good news in itself. My left knee wasn’t getting any better, so I decided to rest it for a few days. That didn’t help. With a strenuous hike through the Arizona desert coming up fast, any leg or foot injury is concerning. But! I found a knee brace that seems custom-made to offer support in exactly the right place. Feels good even after wearing it most of the day. Even so, I took it easy on the roads – only did five or six miles – but the signs look good. By this time next week, I should be back up to 18 – 20 miles a day.
Bit too early yet for Tevas, though; by the time I got home, my toes felt like ghosts.
Had a great performance yesterday at the East Bridgewater Senior Center. It was a lot of fun, and the crowd was really into it. I sure hope I gained a few fans, but you know what? It doesn’t matter. I mean … it does matter – of course it does. Bottom line is, I need to sell books. But on days when the performance goes well, and I feel like I’m inside the story instead of a thousand miles away … I’ll take those days every time.
