Day 19: Weedsport to Savannah, NY

Yep … my feet are gonna need a bit more recovery time.

It’s nice to know I can cover 30 miles in a day if I have to. But it does take a toll. The soles of my feet are no worse off than usual, though I may have strained a muscle or tendon. Whatever it is that helps me pick my feet up and put ’em down softly felt twingy on the right side, between the top of the foot and the shin. It never did loosen up, and by the end of the day, that same muscle group on the left foot ached, as well.

I moved very slowly, all day. Still, I covered a bit over 15 miles. If I can do 18 tomorrow, then I’ll treat myself to another night indoors.

I have a storytelling performance scheduled for next Tuesday at the Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport. That gives me four days to walk 66 miles. Shouldn’t be a problem.

Somebody is firing a rifle not far away. Not my favorite sound. Hopefully just backyard target practice. I can live with that – all the houses are on the other side of the street.

Nobody would be irresponsible enough to take pot shots into the vacant woods across the street, would they?
